Good Morning Truth Seekers! Isaiah 11-13 speaks of Redemption and destruction. Chapter eleven speaks of the coming messiah who will be salvation for God people; Israel and gentiles. He will judge fairly and bring peace beyond measure. Enemies will dwell together, such as the lion and the cow, babies will play near wholes of the cobra. And of course to eliminate any doubt about the prophecy, the messiah will come out of David. Chapter 12 speaks of a song of praise to the messiah for the salvation he brings. Note: This prophecy happens nearly 800 years before Christ was born. Then in chap. 13 God speaks to the calamity he will bring on Babylon. They will be overrun by both the Medes and Persian empires. It happened just as the prophet said it would. Our God is an awesome God!
Mark 4:1-20; What a shame! Jesus teaches in a powerful parable about the word being sown by the sower, but the enemy choking it out. I remind daily that we have the same enemy as Jesus. His job is to keep us from the life changing words that he left behind. Without a fertile foundation of the word in your life, this will be like a fad diet, it will come and go quickly. Therefore, in order to produce 30,60 and 100 fold fruit you have to make a lifestyle change and eat a healthy doze of the word of God. Which seed are you in the parable? Owe I guest you have to read the parable!

I think people underestimate the value of this story. Many have read this over and over and don't see how it impacts them personnally. We agree with what it says but we are slow to respond or either not respond to fighting the enemy. We say yep, this is what happens but intentional action does not follow. I believe we must make a conscious attempt and be deliberate in ensuring the Word is not taken from us by the enemy. Can it be done? Yes, because God has given us a Spirit of Power, Love and of Sound mind! We have to be willing to yield our desire to God's desires. It takes time but by taking small steps forward each day, we can be victorious.
ReplyDeleteSo what should we do to prevent the Word from being taken from us? We have to be deliberate and intentional in protecting the Word in our heart. Sometimes I ask myself why am I doing XYZ or allowing it to happen. With the same mind, I have to summons the strength that lies within and resist the urge to give in to Satan. I refuse to make it more difficult than it has to be.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your small steps approach. For 26 days I have taken time to read the word, each day I get more disciplined to set my clock, get up, read the word. Note I did not say it gets easier, but I get stronger. But first things first we have to decide, plan and work the plan to read or spend time with God. Likewise, when I over come sin in my life it is decision, prayer and then action to support my decision. It does not get easy at no time, but I pray that I get stronger.
