Day 1: Genesis 1-3 & Romans 1

It is fitting that we start 2009 with Genesis. It is the book of beginnings. When I read today I was struck by the order in which God created. His every move was with man in mind. He creates a place for mankind to live, and in it he leaves nothing out; including companionship. We often hear the term Christ centered, today I am reminded that mankind is at the center of every thought of God. In these first three chapters God celebrates his creation (it is very good) and grieves the broken fellowship with man. In Chapter 3 verse 9 God called out to man, and asked Where are you? I think this is a good place for all of us to start the new year. Asking ourselves, "Where are we with God? We see immediately that sin separates us from God and brings about curses. Ironically, in Romans 1 we see the continuation of the consequences of living separate from God. God gives us over to life without him, and that leads to a life full of decay. However, as Paul writes the gospel is the power of salvation for all who believes. (1:16) Come walk with me as we discover what faith brings to those who pursue righteousness. Where are you?
