Genesis 31-32: Romans 11:1-18

Genesis 31-32: Jacob has had enough of his own medicine. Laban is better at deceit than Jacob. He has been with Laban for twenty years. He has become a husband, a father and a wealthy man. He leaves because God told him to go back home. I first thought that now God was ready to use Jacob, but I realize that God has been ready, but it was Jacob who delayed his destiny by having to flee what he would had inherited. Now Jacob is following the voice of God who promises to provide and protect him. I am not sure why Rachel takes the house gods. Was it keep sake or hurtful? Whatever it was it almost lost her life. Whatever you are going through; don't add sin to it. Whatever you produce in sin will have to be managed.

32 Jacob leaves Laban and faces his brother. He is fearful, and prayerful. v11 What a concept! I encourage each of us to add prayer to our lives; this is what the Proverbs 3:5-6 Lean not to your understanding, acknowledge him in all your ways. Prayer is the avenue to God's will. Whenever you want to know what to do and how to do it; ask God.

Romans 11:1-18 Paul continues his litany of concerns about Israel being saved. He cautions the Gentiles not to get boastful, but afraid. That is a good message for all of us. In other words never think that we are better than anyone else, but know by God's grace we are better off. But that comes with the responsibility to help others; not lord over them.
