Genesis 33-35:Romans 11:19-36

Hello Truth Seekers? If you want to comment, you have to create a google address. Jacob meets Esau and all is well. However, I since a little nervousness and distrust from Jacob. I imaging if someone threatened to kill me I would be likewise. I guess time does heal some wombs! God can heal them all and time is not a factor. 34 Jacob daughter was violated. Meaning that Shechem forced her to have sex thus dishonoring her. He then wanted to marry her. Hello! Marrying her first would have been proper. This now deems her untouchable as a potential bride. Men looked for women who were virgins. In fact, if found to have lied about such a thing would lead to death. This was costly to Shechem and his family, but it also cost Levi and Simeon the blessing that would come from their father. Jacob denounces their behavior, but the brothers are resolved they did the right thing. They dishonored themselves in honoring their sister. This is cause for Jacob to move onward to Bethel. He remembers his encounter and promise to God. He honors it. How many of us can say that. We make promises to God, and fail to honor them. This is a bitter sweet time for Jacob. Rachel dies giving birth to Benjamin. He gains a son; loses his wife. Many times in my life I have experienced the bitter with the sweet; my pastor reminds me that those times keeps us on our bended knees..

Romans 11; 19-36. Paul is pain staking insistent that all is not lost for his people. He is lays out a case that God will remember his chosen people, and God continues to extend to them the hope and salvation that comes through Christ. Paul is obviously hurting for his people and looks ahead to God's grace and gives up on his own understanding or ability to explain how he will do it. However, he does believe that God who saves will not forget Israel. I'm encourage by this, that my short sightedness does not limit God's grace. Many people let their immorality keep them from morality. But God has sent his son because of our need. Jesus is often referred to the as the son of a carpenter; no his father is a Dirt Smith. Remember God did his best work with what he shaped out of dirt. The Psalmist says, he knows our frame he remembers that we are dust. (103)
